(2025) Best Short Term Rental Marketing Articles

The holidays are here, the gifts are unwrapped.

I drank too much whiskey, I'm feeling like crap.

The year had its twists, some sweet and some stressful,

But laughter and lessons made it successful.

Looking to next year, I feel very hopeful.

Have a great 2026, welcome to The Lodge Social.

In a couple weeks, this newsletter will turn two years old. 104 weeks straight of writing.

When I started, I thought this would amount to nothing after the initial 90 day test period. I didn't think people would care about marketing lessons in this space.

Now, I'm able to do what I love (write and talk about marketing), in the coolest industry ever (short term rental).

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being a subscriber.

Today, I'm going to share my top 5 articles from 2025. Some of them voted best by you. Some by me.

Let's dive in.

Short form video was predicted to be the best content format to deliver an ROI in 2025 (Hubspot)

Instagram was expected to be the second best channel to do this (Facebook is first). This means, more people are getting used to buying things through social media.

So, if you still have "invest in social" on your to-do list, now's the time.

This article talks about how to get started.

  • The stay

Each of these categories requires a different marketing approach. Which category do you fall under?

If you want to get your own bookings from the internet next year, a functional website is required.

If your goal in the next 12 months is to NOT:

  • Learn website design

  • Figure out APIs and integrations (I bet even this sentence made your head spin)

  • Scream out of frustration

  • Finally build a website that accepts bookings

  • Have something break (and something will)

  • Scream out of frustration (again)

This is for you.

This one was my personal favorite.

We each have our own purple cow feature. Our guests just don't know it - yet.

I'm going to share how to find your purple cow feature so you can stand out and get the bookings you deserve.

There are 3 key areas to do this:

  • Design

  • Story

If you want to make your first $1,000 from social media in 2026, check out this one.

Bookings from Airbnb and Google Ads come a little easier. People browsing these channels are actively looking for their next stay.

Social media is different. No one is looking for you. The algorithm shows people your content based on their PAST interests. Not current.

Aka: The opposite of Airbnb and Google.

Here I share the system to get bookings from social media. It takes 60 days to complete. Tops.

That's all for today. I'll see you next year (lol).

P.S. Writing this from Palm Springs, CA. Spending the holiday in the desert. I hope you enjoyed some well deserved time off.
