Is Glamping a Trend? What I Learned...
Today, I'm going to share an interview I did with Nick Purslow.
Co-Founder, Posh Outdoors
Writer, The Glamping Insider
Here's what we talked about:
Why he's betting so big on Glamping.
What non-glamping hosts can learn from the current boom.
What we should expect as the rental industry is taking a more creative turn.
and more!
As always, the full interview is linked at the end.
If you hate listening to interviews on YouTube, the rest of this read will be a collection of my notes.
#1) Glamping isn't a trend
Let's quickly define "Glamping" so we're on the same page.
It's not just Dome tents and boho vibes.
Instead, it’s the modern version of camping that spans everything from canvas tents to high-end small cabins.
Why Glamping isn't a trend:
Demand is growing within the younger generations.
Sites can be less expensive to start versus buying a home.
Glamping businesses are extremely sellable.
This is why Nick and Posh Outdoors has bet so big on glamping.
#2) You don’t need a glampsite to benefit from the glamping boom
You don't necessarily need to add:
Saunas
Cold plunges
Hot tubs
To keep up with demand.
Yes, nice modern stays are important. But they’re not everything.
Instead, the risk is having outdated marketing.
The experience of glamping is what draws the attention of younger guests.
Experiences is what we're all selling. It's the common denominator for all rental operators.
Share moments like:
What to do in the mornings
How to waste an afternoon
Guests winding down in the evening
Your stay is different from everyone else. Capture that unique experience and share it with the world on social media.
#3) Study these brands
The best hospitality brands are media companies in disguise.
Nick’s favorites are:
I personally love:
These properties turn heads on social media. Why?
The content is movie-grade good
Each video shows something I want to do (the experience)
Making them worth studying.

That's all for today. I'll see you in the next article.

Miles traveled: 130
Apples eaten: 5
Favorite food: Octopus
Views admired: 27
