How to Create The Ultimate Short Term Rental Valentine's Day Offer

It takes less than a days work.

Valentine's day is a wonderful time of year.

It's when couples reconnect after a crazy holiday season, spend almost $26 billion and swarm short-term rental sites.

In this article, I'm going to share the ultimate Valentine's Day Bundle. In less than a day's work, you can raise your nightly rate and increase the quality of an experience.

Some tricks I was taught, some I picked up on while visiting other rentals.

Let's create the ultimate Valentine's Day offer, shall we?

Weekend Packages

We all know successful short-term rental businesses focus on experience. Valentine's day is no different.

Weekend packages turn a basic stay into an all-inclusive resort for one.

A weekend package can include anything. Here’s a great idea I saw on my cabin tours:

  1. The host added aspects like wine and a steak dinner to their listing photos. This increased clicks to the listing.

  2. Once someone clicked to book, the host would upsell the booking by offering a "romance package." which included drinks, chocolate's and vouchers to a nearby classy restaurant.

A no brainer on love day.

I thought it was brilliant. They were able to:

  1. Spark interest with their special occasion photos.

  2. Automate the upsell on their website

  3. Work with a local company to increase the upsell value.

And I would imagine it didn't take more than an afternoon to implement.

Promote An Activity List

Make a list of attractions, bars and activities guests can experience during the weekend.

You might already have this in a 3 ring binder.

I would recommend that you title this list unique towards Valentine's Day. Even if it's no different than your usual activity list.

A seasonal title will make guests feel like you made the list for them. This will increase the perceived value of the booking.

Higher value, higher chance they return.

You’ll wanna leave this list for guests when they arrive.

If you do social media marketing for your rental, promote this list ahead of time to your audience.

Here's an example of what a post could look like:

Posting this list early on social media will create "hype" and attract customers looking for fun things to do over v-day weekend.

Post Stay Coupons

You should now have a weekend package full of goodies and an activities list with things to do. Let's throw one more incentive in the mix.

Add a discounted stay for another time.

This bundle-add costs next to nothing. Plus, it's a chance for you to get a return customer out of an unforgettable weekend.

You'll want to promote this on social media along with your list.

Who knows they might even use that coupon to extend their stay into the week.

How to Create the Ultimate Valentine's Day Bundle

If you have a free day soon, follow these steps to create your ultimate bundle. Do them in sequence to avoid backtracking.

Step 1: Create the weekend package:

Put together a package with goodies. Next, Update the content on your website with photos that feature the package. Then build out the website automation.

Vacation rental sites like Lodgify make creating the automated upsell part pretty easy.

Est time: 3hrs.

Step 2: Promote the activity list

Once your website is all lovey dovey, you'll wanna take the same theme and match that with your activity list.

Keep it simple. Changing the cover page and font color of your existing activity list is plenty.

Est. Time: 1-3 hrs.

Step 3: Complete the bundle with coupons

Finally, you'll want to print out coupons or make gift cards. I know you can email the guests a code, but having more tangible things will make them feel special.

We like it when guests feel special.

Est. Time: 15 min

Crafting the ultimate Valentine's Day bundle only involves these three aspects

Make your guests feel special by taking this extra step. Happy guests are likely to return.

The small details help create valuable experiences.

People that have valuable experiences tell their friends.

Their friends = new customers.

That's all for today. I'll see you in the next article.
